National Authors Day: A Moment to Reflect
Celebrating the journey of writing my first book and the lessons it continues to teach me.
When I launched The Faces of Transparency on June 14, 2025, I didn’t realize how deeply the experience would shape me. Writing a book had always been something I wanted to do, but I didn’t know how much it would reveal, not just about my story but about my purpose.
Every chapter stretched me. It required honesty, reflection, and a level of vulnerability that I once avoided. What I learned along the way is that when you share from a real place, you give others permission to see themselves in your story. That is where healing begins, in the connection that happens when someone realizes they are not alone.
Being an author isn’t about having all the answers. It is about being willing to tell the truth in a way that brings light to others. Since publishing The Faces of Transparency, I have met people who have said, “Your story helped me face mine.” That is what keeps me writing.
On this National Authors Day, I celebrate not only the words that made it to the page but the courage it took to write them. I celebrate every author who has chosen to turn pain into purpose and share their truth with the world.
Insights for Empowerment
Writing is another form of healing.
Every story has purpose, even the unfinished ones.
Your voice matters, and someone needs to hear it.
Encouraging Nugget
If you have ever thought about writing your story, start today. You don’t need to have it all figured out. Just begin. Someone’s freedom may be waiting on the other side of your honesty.
